Lower Back Pain

Lower back pain is more common than you think, affecting 8 out of every 10 people. Lower back pain is on the rise due to increasing sedentary jobs and behaviour. There are several types which include mechanical, structural and non-specific lower back pain.

Did you know that 70% of lower back pain sufferers have re-occurring episodes, which affect people’s ability to work, perform daily tasks, exercise and sleep? The key to avoiding re-occurring injuries is exercise.

How Allied Exercise Physiologists can help:

If you are suffering from lower back pain or want to avoid a re-occurrence of lower back pain then an Exercise Physiologist can prescribe exercises that focus on strengthening your local muscle system (your core). Progressing and regressing exercise based on your symptoms are key to treating and managing lower back pain, which is why it is best to seek help from an Exercise Physiologist rather than trying to self-manage putting you at risk of re-injury. Our Exercise Physiologists will discharge you from treatment once your local muscle system and core is re-trained and provide you with an exercise program to perform at home or in the gym to maintain your function and avoid re-occurring lower back injuries or chronic lower back pain.
